Throughout my research career, I have focused extensively on the natural durability of wood, its degradation under biotic and abiotic factors, and processes to enhance wood’s durability through impregnation and modification. My progressively deepened knowledge of the fundamental structural components of wood—cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin—has enabled me to expand my research interests toward developing innovative materials with unprecedented properties. In numerous research projects, my focus has been on the use of natural polymers and circular economy solutions.

Between 1996 and 1998, I worked as a Quality Control Specialist for industrial wood impregnation processes at Malcolm Holding A/S (DK) IPALCO. From 1999 to 2007, I was a scientific consultant in the R&D Department of Altax Ltd., specializing in wood preservation technologies. I have been affiliated with the Poznań University of Life Sciences since 1995, where I began as a research assistant and now serve as the Head of the Wood Protection and Conservation Laboratory.
From 2013 to 2019, I was the Director of the Institute of Wood Chemical Technology, and from 2012 to 2019, I served as the Dean of the Faculty of Wood Technology. Currently, I chair the Program Council for the Wood Science study program and am a member of the University Teaching Council at the Poznań University of Life Sciences.
My international experience and engagement in scientific research are reflected in my membership in prestigious organizations such as the Polish Association of Building Mycology, the Northern European Network for Wood Science and Engineering, InnovaWood, and the International Research Group on Wood Protection. I have led numerous scientific and R&D projects, including XyloMatrix (budget > EUR 1 million), CellMat4ever (budget > EUR 1 million), and DuraWood (budget > EUR 1 million).
I have supervised five PhD candidates and currently serve as an advisor for two more doctoral dissertations. Additionally, I have been appointed as a reviewer or opponent in many PhD and habilitation proceedings, both in Poland and abroad.
